Try iChat. LOL! It's really the best one. Aside from that, Adium is he next best thing. It never crashes on me and doesn't have any other issues. You can make more "Mac" like with add-ons available on the AdiumX website.

However, for webcamming...iChat is the best.

Good riddens...

Not exactly a plugin but you can have MSN in iChat using a jabber account, take a look here

Just make sure to pick a jabber server that supports the MSN protocol, I use 12jabber. Be aware that you will have only basic chat features for MSN buddies, no Audio nor Video

Hope this helps :apple:

Okay, thank you. Im just gonna stick to Adium and wait for MSN Messenger 7 to be released for mac.
I heard that it will this year.

i use adium for chatting...

if you are on the search for a chat app that suports av chats with the msn protocol i think mercury messenger is quite a popular alternative. it might be worth checking out.

Where did you set up an account to use iChat? I didn't really don't want to pay for a .mac account. Did you use an AIM account or are there other options?

if you are a gmail user you can even use googletalk...

there are even tutorials on how to get ichat to work with the icq protocol (i haven't tried it myself but read how people use it all the time).

I've used Mercury and i personally hate it. The interface is sooo not beautiful. Right now, i'm using both aMSN (when i need webcam) and Messenger:mac for all other purpose because i love its interface.

Where did you see that? I just can't wait for a new version! Hopefully it's gonna include Video and Audio conversing.

I'd recommend Adium if you didn't care so much about video support, though the developers of Adium are hard at work on video support.

Can I use iChat thru GoogleTalk? I'd like to be able to use my camera and screen share so I can help my sister on her iMac.

iChat first, Adium second

Gotta agree with iEric, iChat is the best, and you can use it with several networks. I use it with .Mac-AOL, MSN, Yahoo, gTalk (these last three trough Jabber). However, Jabber does not support Videochats nor file transfers. So I can only videochat with people with AOL or .mac accounts (which, by the way, are free)

I put adium second because altough it supports every network you can think of (including file transfers), it does not support videochat. And with growl as a free addition, it is really useful while integrating all of your contacts into a single list.

Then, If what you want is videochat with every platform: Get Skype! :)

You don't need to pay for anything. When you open up iChat for the first time (or in .Mac Preference Pane, if you have opened iChat before) you click on "Create iChat Account" (or in "get a .mac account" on system preferences), then you follow the instructions to get a FREE .mac trial account. When it expires, you keep the screen name and you still can use it to chat on iChat.

IS THAT TRUE? :O :O :O

I just downloaded Mercury and aMSN. Mercury will allow me to send my webcam to the person, but I cannot view theirs. aMSN will allow me to view the other persons webcam, but it wont allow me to send mine. Is there an easy way to configure either one?
