Any insight?

I usually just take the insurance my carrier offers, but I hear there are some good options out there. I'm considering Applecare, but it doesn't cover loss/theft.

The help is greatly appreciated.

Buy it with American Express and they extend the apple warranty for another year. I had a warranty issue with my iPhone (my warranty was expired) and AMEX refunded my statement for the full purchase price of the phone (Even though Apple charged me less to fix it).

AMEX is awesome.

I'm going with apple care. If I Remember correctly, best buy has a good plan.

Best Buy used to have a good protection plan. They used to charge $9.99 a month, unlimited repairs, no deductible. Now you have to pay $9.99 a month, 3 repairs, and $149.99 deductible.

I think Applecare+ is the best so far.

Can someone explain why Apple Care is a good deal?

$100 + $80 if you break the screen

As opposed to not getting it, and paying some place $80 to fix your screen if you crack it. Thta's $100 saved...

Typically Amex burns you.

They refund the statement price, so if you got in on contract for 199 you get 199. PLUS they want defective product so you can't take it back to apple and get an out of warranty replacement for 250 (costing you 50 in the end).

If you are buying on contract and you want an extended warranty your are better off with AppleCare+ then relying on Amex.

1. How does Extended Warranty work?
When an American Express Card Member charges an eligible product with his or her Card account, Extended Warranty can provide up to one extra year added to the original U.S. manufacturer’s warranty. Applies to warranties of 5 years or less. Coverage is up to the actual amount charged to your Card for the item up to a maximum of $10,000; not to exceed $50,000 per Card Member account per calendar year. Please read important exclusions and restrictions.

6. What do I do with the damaged item?
Please keep all items. After we have determined your item is eligible under Extended Warranty you may be required to send the purchased item to us, in which case we will reimburse you for shipping cost. Upon receipt of the item, a decision will be made to replace the item or refund the item.

I have had Sqaure Trade on my 4 and 5. Both were replaced multiple times and I have always been pleased with them.

Was thinking about square trade, however I did buy my phone with amex. Does amex cover accidental damage??

AppleCare with the $79 deductible is a complete rip, at $50 it was borderline. Square trade has a $75 fee, but you can use it up to 4 times instead of 2.
