I am going to be cycling across US followed by Europe and Asia and I want to carry an iPad in my pannier (cycling bag) attached to bike rack.

I wan to find the best protection in a case and possibly a sleeve also.

Looking for suggestions from others who own high end protection for their iPad.

I looked at timbuk2 and there are a couple that might work but possibly looking for something with hard sides.

I commute mainly on bike, travel often and never leave home without my iPad2. Most of the time the iPad remains housed in a Gumdrop case. I have been very pleased with the Gumdrop case. I can toss it in a bag, let my kids (both ages under 3) play with it, step on it, toss it, bang on it and when it exits the case it looks as pristine as it did on launch day. When I know that I will be tossing it in a bag with heavy, bulky items that I fear could crush the gumdrop case and screen I slip it in a Patagonia "zippered and framed soft shell" designed for the Kindle DX. The gumdrop case remains on and everything fits in the Patagonia case. This then easily gets tossed in any bag and I never think about it. Plus it works as a small carrying case at your destination/tavern. There is an inside pocket that you may easily store documents, money, passport etc. this combination is by no means light weight, it is however functional and bombproof.

Best of luck!

I used the otterbox on my iPad 1 and while it's protective, it makes it really heavy. Not sure what I'll be using on my 3 if I get one.
