I've previously used the dbrand skin on my iPhone 6 Plus and it was made with 3M Vinyl which looked nice but didn't add too much grip at all.

Are there other skins (back coverage only) that provide more grip?

I ordered a skin from bestskinsever.com ...their "Glossy - Full Wrap" version that covers the back and sides of the phone (should be here today or tomorrow).

Though their matte finish looks better, IMHO, it's not as grippy. I used their matte finish on my 5s but ended up going with a case anyway because it still felt slick. For my iPhone 4s, I used their glossy version with no case for 2 years, as it had just enough stickiness for me. The skin lasted about a year and a half before becoming yellow and peeling and needing replacement. Never dropped my 4s in those 2 years either...YMMV. My 4s was my favorite.

The skins are inexpensive too. They have/had a sale where I paid just $6.74 each.
