I'm going on vacation soon and was hoping to bring a small speaker set to use for my sound needs. This would serve as an alarm clock and a place to play music from my iPhone. An aux in would definitely be a plus for the macbook. Any suggestions?

A nice rechargeable battery is a definitely needed for on-the-go activities. Not looking for something super bulky either. Looking to spend around $100 but more if it's a great product. Sound quality is not a top priority but hopefully not too bad, I also like bass.

Thanks :)

Thanks for the reply. Looks like the first one's main feature is bluetooth? Too bad the iPhone doesn't have A2DP.

Any other suggestions?

I've never been able to figure this out. How exactly do they work?

Well, as it says it has a coil that amplifies the sound without a power source, so basically relying on the sound that comes out of the iPhone speaker. I've got one in my office at the campus and it's perfect for ringtones, iTunes or alerts via the clock, email or text messages; at $20 it's a no-brainer for me...:)
