Hello all,

I'm going to be running a new 15" MBP with the lid closed, and want to keep it cool. I'm looking for a laptop cooler that works with, and fits it well. The laptop will be closed and then slid underneath a 3" shelf. I've tried a few coolers, but either they look extremely ugly (don't fit propertly), or they only make a difference of a few degrees (about 5 degrees).

I could design the perfect cooling mat it would have/be:
* fans near the back (since all the heat is near the back)
* variable speed depending on environment
* AC powered (for desktop use)
* matching aluminum
* fit the 15" MBP perfectly in dimensions
* raise the laptop slightly off the pad for better air flow
* no gimmicky blue lights

Targus makes one specifically for the MBP. I tried one with my 17" but I don't recalling it making much a difference.

Any suggestions?

Have you checked out the akasa orion?

I don't have it myself, I am using notepal cooler master but the orion one is aluminum, if that matters. Most coolers are plastic.

This is my favorite keeps my MBP cooler by about 10-15c.

it has blue LED's but they can be turned off. it makes the biggest difference of all the ones i have used.

That one looks interesting because it has one large fan that covers almost the entire surface of the laptop. Normally you get two fans which might cover 1/3.
