Check your local municipal recycling. There's generally a provision for taking car batteries and other battery-equipped gear at a special drop-off location, as they don't want batteries ending up in their landfills.

Or just fix it, new batteries can be cheap $20-50 bucks. Some models can be used as backup power with addition of 12V car agm batteries, powered my Woodstove fans through a UPS for 3 days during winter power outage.
Worked with my Triplett UPS for Network, vintage 1980-90. Check your user manual print or on-line for how to open and replace batteries.
Most of mine are at least 10 years old.Interstate sells UPS batteries.
