Hey guys! So excited to score a new iMac... my first desktop in ten years! I was wondering if anyone knew which is the nicest looking VESA arm mount to go with the new iMacs, or if anyone has a solid recommendation for one they like because it's just so darn handy/dandy. Help me out, Macrumors!!

=D

Came here looking for the same answer. I would like a wall arm for the new iMac, suggestions would be appreciated.

Assuming you mean the M1 24", I don't think you can? I certainly haven't seen anything about a VESA mount adapter being available for it. I really hope they make one for the larger iMac though.

Did you buy the VESA version? If not, you’ll have to wait for a third party to make something compatible. I’d expect VIVO to be one of the first.

If you did buy the VESA version, then the possibilities are endless. Just search for what you like.

The 24" is available with either the stand or a VESA mount (and you can actually swap between them - for a price - if you later change your mind via a back-panel replacement).

Wow, thanks, I found it now. They have done a terrible job of actually advertising this though. Previous ones it was either an option when you select it, or separately as an accessory. Now you have to scroll down past the different models and find one one small line "looking for an iMac with VESA mount" hidden away further down. They don't even show if you do a search for VESA, it only shows you the adapters for 27"/older models/XDR display.

vivo makes a Vesa mount adapter for the (pre-M1) OEM stand - https://vivo-us.com/collections/vesa-adapters/products/stand-macb.

I hope they update it for the M1 iMacs. Update: Vivo support said, "they will be adding an M1 version in a few months."

I like the option of both (and the added 'shelf' it creates). If permanently mounting to desk, I'd skip the adapter and just order the vesa-mount iMac.

Did you notice how they conveniently forgot to include any photos of an iMac mounted on this VESA mount from the front on their website? It's because it looks like garbage. Totally and utterly abysmal. Like sick on a stick. Absolutely horrific. Yes, I agree that sometimes aesthetics have to take a step back and give way to ergonomics. But in all honesty, I could not stand that look for more than a minute. I'd rather poke out my own eyes. Or cut the remainder of the integrated stand off, whichever is less painful.

Anyway, back to topic. There are a variety of different VESA mounts out there that should all work with the iMac. That's why it's called a VESA mount: it's standardized. Pick one that supports the iMac's weight and make sure your desk is solid enough to old the weight without warping or flexing. Which should be much easier with the new 24" iMac as it weighs about as much as a single sheet of paper.

(from the front) you could not stand to look at the stand? :) "Sick on a stick" seems little heavy handed to get the convenience of both options. Again you could order the Vesa option iMac then buy an "ugly vesa base" in the future if you need it. Seems this is an easier/more elegant solution if you need or prefer BOTH options. And if like most ppl your iMac is up against a wall you won't 'see' the mount (only the OEM base - which is useful if you're creative)

while far from perfect, the Vivo product suites a need. I personally like the OEM stand under the screen to use as a tray (and you're not limited to only a vesa mount if in the future I want to move it to another room in the house)

Im all about design but when Apple limits our options, you do the best with whats available.
