Hello everyone, I am in the market for buying a MacBook for the first time. I have had iPhones since the 3g but never used the Mac OS other than that. My current laptop is an hp that I don’t do much on other than general use of internet. YouTube and light use. What is the best kind of MacBooks to be looking for? I enjoy the look and size of the MacBook Air for a starting place. Any suggestions would be great.
thank you!

Was just looking at a July 2019 model on apple.com certified refurbished. Thoughts on something like this?
For the money, the best bang for your Apple buck is the base M1 MBA at $999. I would not mess with a 2019 refurb on Apple even though it would come with a warranty and be in superb condition. I haven't looked but, I am guessing that model is $700 or so dollars? If you can afford the $1k, I don't think you will regret the M1. If your budget is low and tight, you can save up a little more for the M1 or wait for an M1 refurb or open box return that has a warranty.

There is nothing wrong with the 2019 or 2020 MBA but for the money, you can get a M1 that is quiet and a lot faster.

the July 2019 refurb is a good MacBook, but i would get something apple will support like an M1 with the ARM processor. that will last longer in apples eyes.
my macbook for 2010 is considered obsolete by apple, i still use that and love that macbook, but if your are investing in that much get the newer edition cuz who knows when the intel chips will be unsupported.

Okay thank you, yeah I was trying to stay around the 1k price point. So that’s good information to have. The refurb was right around 800 bucks anyway so if it’s worth the extra couple hundred then I’ll look at getting the 2020 model.
