I have an emulator running on my iPhone with some awesome old SNES games. It works flawlessly with a Dualshock 4 controller. I want to be able to mirror the game on my TV, but even a regular lightning to HDMI adapter adds a crazy amount of latency. Are there any other ways to achieve this with less latency?

Unfortunately no, the Apple TV using the Airplay feature is worst, but it depends on your iPhone, old iPhone or Macs sometimes struggle with videos or apps.

I use both the HDMI adaptor (which i prefer) and an old Apple TV Gen 3, with a Macbook Air 2019 and iPhone 11 Pro Max and the videos runs smoothly (airplay or connected) but if I use my partner's iPhone 6S the videos always get stuck over Airplay.

That's a shame. I wonder why the adapter adds so much latency. Maybe this is another good reason for Apple to switch over to usb-c.
