best monitor for a MBP mid 14

ive read a lot of guides and from what i understand, a 4k monitor for my mbp would work but would not perform at its best. Im reading i would want a sst 4k monitor and that my current mbp can not support that.

is this correct?

am i better off buying a WQHD 1440 monitor or something similar?

you can do 4K with thunderbolt 2 at 60 hz refresh. I asked multiple people if mine can do the same and they said yes. Also, there is an article on mac rumors showing the best monitors based of off which year mac you have
