I initally wanted an LED cinema display to use for both my macbook pro and the notebook (HP elitebook) given to me by my employer, but due to too many financial obligations this year that ain't gonna happen...

So, I am not looking for a reasonably priced monitor that I can use for my work laptop..the screen on the laptop is so friggin small that it is practically useless for what I need to do...

Suggestions?

What size/resolution are you looking for? What uses? There are certainly LED displays under $300. But if you're looking for more color accurate work, check out the Dell U2311h. ASFAIK still the best IPS panel in that price range. It's not LED, but it'll give better viewing angles and accurate colors than the cheap TN LED panels you'd find. Of course, that doesn't matter so much if you'll just be browsing the internet, working on office docs, and watching media.
