I'm looking to pick up a new monitor for the office and I was given a budget of $500 to work with. Obviously, this excludes the best models available, but
I should still be able to find something decent. Any help is appreciated.

Here are my requirements.
1. Cost must be under $500
2. Good color accuracy. I'm a graphic designer, so this is very important.
3. 22" or bigger.
4. 1920 x 1080 or better
5. Wide viewing angle.
6. Good contrast ratio
7. Good overall sharpness. I do not want grainy whites.
8. Glossy or matte screen is fine.

More details
1. Well lit office environment (fluorescent lighting).
2. LED or LCD. Either option is fine. Looking for the best overall quality regardless of technology.
3. Gaming performance / response time is not important. This will only be used for design work.

Models under consideration
1. HP ZR22W
2. HP ZR24W
2. Samsung SyncMaster F2380M (It seems to no longer available)
3. HP 2311x
5. Dell UltraSharp U2410 (poor quality control)

Are there any other good models that I am leaving out?

I'm not sure if you ever look at Woot, but today could be your lucky day. The Famous Maker that they have on there is a refurb HP. I bought one about a year ago, and to be honest I freaking love it. I edit photos, use it for CAD modeling, watch movies on it, etc..

Given your lighting environment, it reads like you need matte so I recommend the U2410 all day long.

I just went from 3 U2410s to 2 ACD 27s and regret not doing it earlier, so I'd recommend a refurbished 24 ACD if you can find another $100 and glare isn't an issue.

We have fairly typical office florescent lighting. The exact same lighting seen in this picture, but less soul crushing. I can't imagine that glare would be that big of a problem in this setup.

Is the 24" ACD sold anymore, or is Apple just out of stock for now? It seems as though this model will be hard to get as Apple only sells a 27" now.

HP ZR24w or Dell U2410. one is sRGB, one is wide-gamut, so decide on that.

Just out of stock now, check daily, and you'll see it pop up again. Some popped up in the last few weeks.
