Best & most effective way to pre-order iPhone 6?

So I've actually never pre-ordered the new iPhone, I always just stand in line every year. I've read that the Apple Store App is the best place to pre-order. What is the best way to pre order?

I used the Apple Store App to pre-order the iPhone 5 and it was quick and seamless, I pre-ordered as soon as it went live and ran into no issues.

I don't have the store app but I do have a PC with mac OS installed on it, could I download a store app there? And can I use it with AT&T next?

On that note, when does preordering go live? Is it 12:00am PST? I'm on Eastern time and I preordered the iPhone 5 but I don't remember what time I actually woke up. I believe it was 3:00am but I want to be sure.

Pre-ordering goes like 12AM PST. So that would be 3AM Eastern.
