I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on a MacPro that I will use primarily to edit and burn movies from footage taken with a Sony HDR-HC1 high definition 1080i video camera.

Over the past few months I've run into some bottlenecks (usually with iDVD) when trying to burn my HD iMovie files to DVD with my PowerMac G5 2.0 with 4GB memory.

Money is an object for me as I've pretty much settled on the MP 2.66 with a 23" Apple or Dell monitor. The ability to add several 500 GB hard drives down the road is very attractive for video archiving purporse (I'm making movies of my 18-month old daughter).

I'm trying to decide whether I need to upgrade the graphics card to the ATI x1900. I'm fairly certain I won't use this machine to play games and I don't do much with pictures beyond Photoshop Elements (I don't use Photoshop) although I am considering Aperture.

I will probably add a blu-ray optical drive in the future to take full advantage of my hi def movies. I might graduate to Final Cut Express but so far I've been very happy with the output from iMovie.

Considering that I'll be dealing with high definition video and the subsequent large QuickTime or other video format files... is that enough to warrant the upgrade to the ATI x1900 or is the stock nVidia card sufficient?

Thanks in advance for your input.
