I'm looking for some over-the-ear headphones for around $40. They simply need to sound good, no need to be very precise. That is, headphones that boost the bass are fine. They'd be used for listening to music off an iPhone at home typically.

What do you guys think? I know you can Google this, but I'm wondering what the opinion is here since I know this place better than other sites. I found these already from random sites:

http://www.amazon.com/Superlux-681-...IPYI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329258025&sr=8-1 << Two people said these were good, but the material looks cheap, and they say "professional" on them... :/

http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HARX700-P...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329258222&sr=1-1 << Another recommended one.

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRXD200-MDR-XD200-Stereo-Headphones/dp/B0007N55NW << The headphones I have now. I'm looking for a gift for someone else. They're normally much cheaper than this listing. They seem very good even though the plastic feels a little cheap, but I haven't had much to compare them to.

What's the best car?

What's the best food?

What's the best website?

What's the best shoe?

What's the best book?

What's the best country?

Gotta love these super specific questions that can only be interpreted one way.

That was a super helpful post! Awesome!

Not everyone is an audiophile that knows the types of question to ask. He wants to know the best possible headphones under a price based on peer opinions and experiences. How asinine of him.

In my experience for over the ear headphones, for that price I have bought Sennheisers that sound pretty good and fit what you are looking for. That being said, they are by no means noise canceling and really barely noise reducing. Also they tend to make the covered area sweat. I, personally, would stuck to in ear at your price but if those aren't what you are looking for (obviously) then really all you can do is read the reviews and take the plunge.

Just as obtuse as the OP. Best as in most durable? Most noise isolation? Most comfortable? Most bass? Punchiest bass? Clearest highs?

HAY GUYZ, WHATZ THE BEST THING????
