Best music location solution?

Hi,

I need a little advice about where the best place to store my music would be. I currently have two computers.

iMac - Mac OS X Leopard & Windows 7
Dell Mini 10 netbook - Windows XP

What I want to do is have my music in a central location, so each computer can access it (using iTunes). I have a 400GB external hard drive which I plan to use to store the music on [currently stored on my Mac OS X partition], but I need to know what would be the best solution. I've came up with the following disk layout:

Partition No.:
1: Mac External - Hold misc data. HFS+ Format
2: Time Machine backups. HFS+ Format
3: Music collection. Fat32 (so that both Windows & Mac OS X can read/write to it).
4: Windows External. Hold misc data such as my college work. NTFS Format.

Will the above idea work? Will I run into any issues?

I think your biggest issue will be a space issue. What size do you plan on making your partitions? How big is your iMac hard drive?

Hi,

My iMac hard drive is 320GB. The bootcamp partition is 30GB.

I plan on making the partitions 100GB each. My music collection is around 7GB (but of course it will grow over time as I add more music/media).

Also, will I be able to store my iTunes library file on my Music collection partition so each time I open iTunes on either the netbook or iMac, the data will be in sync? i.e. So I don't have to maintain seperate song lists on each machine.
