I am looking for opinions about the best external enclosure for Time Machine. By "best" I mean something 1) affordable, 2) quiet, 3) that can turn itself off automatically when the computer is idle/off (I could turn the enclosure on/off by myself but I intend to connect it directly to my wifi router which sits far from my office).
I could not find anything that fits all three items. After some search, I ended up with two options :
Icy Dock (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817198004) which is cheap and quiet.
or
Ministack (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer Technology/FWU2ESMSV3/) which turns itself off and it is quiet.
What is your take on these enclosures ? Thxs
obs. I did not considered Time Capsule because I already have a nice HD.
