Best optical drive to upgrade a G4 Sawtooth with?

I've noticed that my MacBook Pro can read and write any DVD media that I've put in to it, but the original Panasonic DVD-ROM in my G4-450 Sawtooth with can not read or recognize many of the DVDs I write with my MBP (video or data).

I think this problem can be solved by putting a new/ more current optical drive, please tell me if I'm wrong (or right).

Anyone know which optical drive would be good/compatible with my G4?

I don't know much about your problem, but you can get a cheap Superdrive at macsales.com which will work in your G4 with no problem.

I have a Pioneer 111D in my QuickSilver and it works perfectly with iLife apps and Toast. I would recommed it: plus you can find them online for around $35.
