My dept is about to upgrade our G5s to minis running Lion. I have been assigned the task of setting up the first mini and getting everything "stable" before we deploy the balance of the machines. I know it will take time until all of the apps are upgrade to run happily under Lion -- but in anticipation of that day coming....what is the best method for taking that install and cloning it so that I can quickly deploy the remaining machines? if it's even possible?

Use CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to make a 1:1 copy of the first installation and then clone it to the other machines.
But you do know, that PPC Macs (G5 is a PPC CPU) will not run Lion or even Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard?
