Best option for connecting Macbook to HD TV

I have a Sony Bravia 32' television and want to connect my macbook up to my tv. I dont know which way is going to give me the best picture quality possible for doing this. I have bought the DVI to VGA adapter but someone has told me the DVI to HDMI is the best. Could someone help me out on this please?
