Best option for getting 5C screen repaired?

Stupid me dropped my 5C onto pavement when I got out of my car and as expected, the screen shattered. I didn't buy AppleCare+ this time around because I didn't think I would need it, so what's my best option? Is it worth it to go to the apple store and try to beg them to let me use my other phone's AppleCare+, or do I have to pay the extremely high amount to get it fixed?
