best OS for iBook G4 1ghz?

Getting an iBook G4/1Ghz for $80 and maxing it out to 1.25gb RAM as a christmas present for my better half. It has a bad drive so I'm throwing in a 100gb 7200rpm. Which OS would be the best for this little guy? System 9 or 10.2/4/5?

personally i'd throw 10.5 on there, it'll run like a breeze on those specs

Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) will run smoothly. I have the same iBook, and of all the OSs it had (Panther to Leopard), this ran the best. Leopard might be a hog.

Tiger or Leopard.

Tiger would most definitely work faster and I would think be cheaper to buy.

Leopard would work reasonably well if you want the new features introduced when it was released.
