What app do you recommend to easily organize folders and files, instead of using Finder? For example: I would like to have two Finder-like windows on the screen and be able to drag and drop files or groups of files between folders.

You can easily do that with Finder. What are you looking for that Finder can't do?

For starters, I don't seem to be able to select multiple sub-folders from one window and drag and drop them into a folder in the second window. And using Finder just seems clumsy compared to what a third party app might provide.

That's a very simple operation for Finder and has been working like that for many years. It sounds like you have an issue with your particular setup. You might check permissions of the folders involved. You may also want to reindex your drive.

1. Hold down the command key and then select the folders you want.
2. After selection, let go of the command key
3. Drag the folders to a new location.
4. You're welcome.

Hold "Shift" and click to high light the folders you want to move, then drag it to the new destination.

Great. Now I see how it works. I guess I just didn't try hard enough to understand Finder.
