best perfomance (cheapest) 2008 memory?

I currently run crucial memory for my mac pro got a total of 12 gigs adn wanted to know what the best for performance, yet at the cheapest price is for mac pro memory? got a 2008 dual quad 2.8,

i dont like the 1 gig chips as i dont see a reason to fill the slots up with such low memory when one can get either 2 gig or higher per!
