Where is the picture taken used for the 13" MacBook Pro with retina display wallpaper

I'm having a discussion with colleagues whether the wallpaper used for the 13" MacBook Pro with retina display on Apple's website is a real location on earth or whether it is fabricated. Anyone know?

I'm referring to the river running through the orange rock formations (on the right):

We go out west often for photography. While I can not state a lat and long, it looks like any number of locations on the Colorado river. There would be no need to fake such a shot.

Wow, that's a cool coincidence. I'm using the exact same pic. Cheers to good taste!;)

I have all of the linked images saved in my storage. There's not really alot of images out there, compared to the lower resolution images atleast.

Does anyone know where I can find the ones Apple use on their website? I'm specifically looking for the surfing image but if there's some sort of album that would be great.

These images are for the iPad Retina but you can try on the MacBook Pro.

Here's 2 versions of the same photo , one optimized for Retina, the other for a standard iPad.
Can you see the difference?

Want to see how sharp an iPad Retina screen can be, try this with single pixel text:

This is what I use...

Yeah the Apple photo of the canyon looks like Lake Powell. You can hire Jet Ski's there for about $150 a day and ride through all the slot canyons - awesome day out :)
