Hello all, I got the 2.2G white Macbook SR recently with 1 gig ram, looking to upgrade to 4 gigs.

Crucial sell a 4 gig kit for just under 100 pounds, but switch to their US site and its $120 for the same kit. Almost worth trying to import, but don't want the possible import charges and hassle.

From searching the forum there is a lot of places to get cheap upgrades in the US, but anyone over here in the UK have any recommendations of UK sellers?

Thanks

I believe Crucial UK has lowered the price of 4GB kit to about 85 quids. However, they're plenty of US resellers (i.e. OWC) who sell RAM at much lower price. You could try importing them, not sure about whether you'll be charged duties/VAT.

Price this morning at Crucial.com/uk is still 98.69 pounds

That sux, the last time I went there (before Christmas) it was 85. I think it may be worth it to take the risk and order from an American website. I'm planning to do it, even with all the taxes added - it could turn out cheaper than UK price.

Thanks for the replies people, much appreciated.

Does the latest MacBook use the same memory as the pre- Santa Rosa Macbooks? Just that many of the configurators on the websites (the Kingston one on Dabs and the aememory site) don't list the 2.2GHz MacBook yet, but have the 2GHz and 2.16GHz versions.

The part number is the same to that listed on Kingston's site, so it should work just fine with the Santa Rosa MBP (I hope so anyway, as I've just ordered a 4GB kit!) ;-)

Yes it will. This is where i bought the RAM for my BlackBook and it works like a charm. Even better that its not value RAM but actual Kingston RAM

Dang, they're out of stock :( Still, I have had my order placed since the early hours of Monday morning, so they'll still have to match the price (I hope). Crucial's price doesn't even come close ...

Back i stock, I have just ordered 4Gb upgrade.
:)

SWEET. I noticed the money had been deducted from my bank last night, which they shouldn't do unless the order was possible! Then I check this morning and it's changed from Awaiting Stock to "Order placed". Can only be a good thing :D For a while I'll have a 3.3GB MacBook - followed very shortly by a 4GB MBP!

I've just bought 4GB from Crucial for my macbook for £65. This is more or less as cheap as it's ever going to get.

It might go down to £45 (I don't care about £20 here or there) but it's more likely to start going up again for various reasons.

Am quite amazed, as my macbook will now have more RAM than all my previous computers, flash cards, USB key drives, graphics cards, HD buffers etc combined!
