My parent's 2008 MacBook is doing very well, especially since I installed the SSD. However, the battery is reporting that it needs to be replaced and can barely hold a charge. I know it's a simple process to replace the battery, and I don't want them to pay for the labour costs from Apple. Does anyone know where I can buy a 2008 MacBook Pro battery? Not sure if it's a factor for shipping, but we live in Canada. Thanks!

eBay.ca

Be sure to get an original Apple battery. Search for "MacBook Pro 2008 Battery" and add the terms "Genuine" or "Original".

Other World Computing sells compatible, but higher capacity batteries. They're highly reputable and ship internationally.

I've bought from OWC before. Great company but be wary of high shipping rates and import taxes (13% HST + 7% duty).

Do like their compatibility. Also check the OWC Garage Sale, you can save a bit there.
