A friend of mine asked me to find an iPad 1. Where's the best place now?

I've heard rumors of AT&T stores, Verizon stores, Radio Shack, etc.

Anyone who has actually bought one let me know. I am located in San Diego.

Apple store should have refurbished ones.

Are you serious?

I see them everywhere I go since most stores can't seem to sell them due to everyone wanting an iPad 2.

I bought the 64GB 3GB iPad 1 AT&T had on sale for $529. Awesome deal!

Cheers,

AT&T online has the 64 gb 3g model for $300 off ($529), plus one month of free data.

Yes I am serious. I am aware of the AT&T deal but that's over $600 when you factor in the 1 month of data and tax.

My friend only wants the 16GB wifi.

$399 refurb is your best bet or the 32GB Wifi @ $429 @ the Apple Store online or a used one from someone.

Cheers,

Try Best Buy.

I just got the 1 last week, but then decided to get the 2 instead. So, I'll be returning this 16GB WiFi in favor of the 2.

Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Apple Store, online Apple, refurbished online Apple,etc...

They are everywhere.

Good luck finding a 16 GB wifi only. I haven't seen any refurbs or clearanced 16 GB units online in the Apple Store recently and Verizon pretty much liquidated their inventory last week when they reduced all of their prices by an additional $100 (16 GB wifi was $299). That being said, every Verizon store I called earlier this week still had 32 GB units for $399--same price as 16 GB anywhere else--that's your best option.

I will venture eBay, Craigslist...

Why pay top whack for a 1st gen if you can get a good condition 2nd Hand for a lot less.

You need not pay top whack for 1st gen or posting on forums at 3am.

Sorry for being thick but what has top whack got to do with posting on forums at 3am....

Also it was 11am my time when I posted but what that has to do with the price of fish or even the price of an iPad 1 beats the hell out of me.

I picked a 16gb wifi refurbished from Apple online store on Monday for $350 + tax. It should be at the house on Monday.

They used to restock the refurbed on Monday night-Tuesday morning but now there is no pattern to when products show up on the refurbished website. You just need to periodically check through the day and act fast when you see it.

They currently have the 32GB wifi for $429 as I post this.

I bought the refurb from apple for 349... but then decided i wanted the verizon deal and got the 32 gb for 399... that is the best deal out there in my opinion, prices on email for all ipads are about 300 + and there is also the issue with the warranty, anything you buy brand new has a 1 yr warranty, vs ebay may only have a few days of warranty....

I'm in the same boat -- my sister wants to buy a 16gb original iPad, either new or refurb (she doesn't have a ton of money so all other iPads are out).

So far I haven't had any luck trying to find her one. :(

Our WalMart has no 1s left but our Target had quite a few. I guess your best bet is to call around.

Target

I was at Target today here in Saint Louis, and they had a few iPad 1's in their case, i couldn't see which size or 3g or not, they didn't have any clearance stickers on them, but i am sure they are clearancing them out like the other Targets are....

I got my 64gb 3G at AT&T for 529. $566 with tax and no data required. Even with data that isn't over 600?

Check out Gazelle - they buy used electronics (I sold my iPad 1 to them) and they then resell them on eBay. (I'm not affiliated with them but I know that they have iPad 1's available for sale.)

Best place for ipad 1?... Try the local rubbish dump

While I get the excitement many get over a new product being introduced by Apple such as when the new iPad 2 came out... I fail to see your reasoning behind your statement. Isn't telling someone to check the garbage dump for an iPad 1 sort of like saying that Apple sells garbage? I disagree, the iPad 1 is still useful and fast enough for many of us. Not to mention, your post is not helpful to the OP. Enjoy your iPad 2 while the rest of us enjoy our iPad 1's.

As for where to find an iPad 1... Got mine at Best Buy.
