I have a 120GB SSD that I boot from and would preferably like to keep this as free as possible. I have all of the Jam Packs and would like to install these now but can only seem to be able to select the boot drive to install them onto.

I have 2 1tb Caviar Blacks with nothing on right now.

Do they have to go on the boot drive? They will fit if need be, I'd just prefer to keep the boot drive less cluttered.

Any advice would be great.
Thanks!

Do you have the separate Jam Packs for Garageband, or are they being installed as part of Logic? Going from experience with Logic, you have to install them in the default location (/Library/Application Support/Logic if I recall correctly) and then move them and use a symlink so Logic can find them.

Never installed the Jam Packs directly for GB, so I can't help there.

I've done this with the standard instrument library for GarageBand and it works well. That's what I'd recommend doing.

Yeah, symlinks are the way to go. I use them for anything pertaining to downloads, mail, final cut support data (soundtrack pro library, my stock footage, etc), and anything else that takes up a lot of space.
