So I have a MBP19 16 inch and I want to upgrade to the new MBP21 16 inch once its released. but, I am trying to figure out best place to sell it? it does have AppleCare+ if that makes a difference. I am avoid eBay due to the insane fees they charge. any idea anybody?

any help is greatly appreciated it!

I have had a positive experience selling multiple devices on Swappa. Fees end up being a bit less than eBay, and it is set up much better for tech products.

Agree with the post above. Unfortunately eBay and Swappa are probably the two places that you would fetch a higher price for it because of the Applecare. I think "trade in" sites that give an immediate payment will give a lower price generally speaking, and won't factor in Applecare into the price.

You seem to have over 250 posts so I think that you should have access to the Marketplace on this forum. Could one of the more knowledgeable persons confirm this?

I recommend getting quotes from CashForYourMac.com and MacMeAnOffer.com. Both are reputable trade vendors used by MR members.

I got lazy with my 2020 Intel i5 Air and just did a trade-in with Apple. I'm sure I took a hit there, but I believe they gave me like $600 which definitely took a bite out of the price of the M1 Air I was replacing it with.

Also good to know: if you have AppleCare and there's unused time left on it, you can actually get that unused part refunded, which is very cool.

oh wow did not know that. how can I get that refunded? contacting apple if I do a trade in with them? thanks!

There is absolutely no way I will trade in my 64GB/2TB 16" MBP with Apple here in Belgium. Their site says an MBP has a trade-in value of up to €780. On eBay, they go for €2K upward. I can fund an MBA M1 16/512 with the €1500 that I gain.

I think I just called the main Apple help number and they put me in touch with the right person. You should have in your email somewhere (from when you bought the Mac) an email from them with the policy attached. I'd dig that up and have it on hand.

Obviously the refund was pro-rated and there was some additional fee but I think I ended up recouping like $100 or something.
