i am looking to buy a macbook pro when it gets updated, and hopefully the $100 rebate printer deal will still be available.

i'd like some suggestions on which printer to get with the rebate.

here are some features i'm looking for in a printer:
- $150 budget max, so $50 after rebate
- wireless
- compatible with a macbook pro using leopard (and a plus if it would work with windows vista on bootcamp, or windows xp pc's on the same network)
- relatively small and doesn't take up too much space
- scanning/copying capabilities are perks but not necessary

thanks!

Look at the cost of replacement cartridges, how many pages you tend to get, how easy it is to get them locally, and also how easy each of them will be to get recharged.

You aren't buying a printer, but 20-30 cartridges, or a bunch of ink.

Great printer, with no local supply tends to be a problem on the days Murphy's Law bites you.

I got the Canon MP600, its sweet as hell, fast as hell, and scans/copys, etc. Wireless is an add-on, at least on the MP600, which is the old version now...

It's a bit pricier too, but you will love it. That, or I am just boasting about the printer I have, perhaps  Worth a look at least.

I would take the $99 printer, sell it and get a laser. Seriously, paying $20 for ink cartridges that print 20 pages doesn't do it for me.

And most of my friends got the HP AIO. It was the cheapest.

I wouldn't make a blanket statement for all makers like that. I have owned 3 HP printers and all of them have done extremely well on ink and I print a lot. Also refills are only $10. Laser printers are nice, but they have their problems also.

I got the $99 one. I works great so far. Ive printed numerous rasterbated images of 12+ sheets on a single cartridge. The next one up, the $129.99 i think, is the same thing but with wireless capabilities. If you need it then get that one.
