I was wondering what the best program for burning files and folders on PPC Macs is? I'm going to backup files to an External HD but thought I'd also use discs too since I have a lot of them. I just don't know of a good program to use do it.

Toast 10 Titanium.

Drag. Drop. Burn. Done.

But if that's not your style or budget, there's always Disk Utility, which is free. I've always used Toast though so I'm not sure what other options are out there.

Why not just use the Finder? Make a new Burn Folder, add your files and hit burn. You say PPC, so I suppose if you're on Mac OS 8 this won't work.

If you want to burn a folder of data to a CD just use the finder. If you want to burn a Disc Image (i.e. iso, dmg, cdr...) use Disk Utility's Burn function.

Open DU, drag the Disc Image into DU on the left side, select the Disc Image, then press the burn button on the top of the window.

Now my iBook won't accept blank DVDs. It just throws them out when they I put them in.

It will keep in discs with something on them though.

Uhhh... Then why ask about the best app for burning discs if you physically can't? You sure you have a burner or just a CD drive? What does System Profiler say under Disc Burning?

My guess would be that maybe the disc you want to burn is of the wrong type?

I can burn DVD+R in most of my Macs, but only one or two of them will burn DVD-R.

System Profiler should tell you what formats your burner will support.

My bad! :) It looks like it reads DVDs but doesn't look like it can burn them. I have booted Lubuntu from a DVD several times.

Anyone have a recommendation for an external DVD burner/reader that works well with PPC Macs?

Tried to use an external Samsung Blu-Ray burner and player but it still won't let me burn a disc from the finder. I guess it's not picking up the blank disc or something. The player does work with this iBook though as it will play CDs from the Samsung.

I was trying to burn DVDs with the blu-ray burner. Have no blank blu-rays.
