can i use quicktime pro to do this?

I don't want to have to reencode or anything like that.

I use Quicktime Pro for this. Literally you copy and paste. It takes a few minutes to save the file but worth it in the end. Also if you have Perian installed, it can take two .avi (or whatever) files, copy and paste them into one, then export as .mp4. Very convenient especially if you have an Apple TV.
