Hey,

I'm not loving the official Gmail app, and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a good/the best Gmail push app!

Running 8.1 on an iPhone 6 Plus btw.

Thanks!

You may get more responses if you post in the iOS apps thread, but try Mailbox. Gets push notification from Gmail.

I'm currently using Mailbox and have no issues with getting notifications. Works like a charm.

I like Boxer (and just sprung for pro while they're having a sale) but I'd also recommend checking out myMail, Accompli and CloudMagic to see the options out there and then you can pick :)

I just use the default mail app using gmail forwarded to a push icloud address. Will also send as if from gmail if you tweak the SMTP settings to use their server. Pushes fine for me, I get the mail on both my iPhone and Android at the same time.

Downside to it is it doesn't, or at least I haven't really looked at or investigated, sync to the online version. What I mean by that is when I trash it from my phone mail it doesn't trash from the online gmail access for example. But if you can live with that then it works well.

But general mail folders and sent items etc... all there.

I was using Mailbox and loved it on iOS, but the OS X version is way too crippled and unusable (yes, I know it's still in beta.) I'm going to try CloudMagic though.

Mailbox is nice but wish you could make it only show a notification icon for unread emails, seems like it doesn't go away until you delete the email. Also the background image is silly and wish I could disable it.

I've tried a bunch and my top 2 are Cloud Magic & Acompli. Cloud Magic doesn't have alias support so I use that one for corporate work and then Acompli for personal and for my freelance email. It's nice to keep them separate. Accomplice is a very good app with lots of good features but not complicated if that makes sense.
