I recently got an Apple Watch after owning a Fitbit. I'm really liking all the tracking and data in the Health app, but one missing thing is the sleep and readiness scores the Fitbit app used to produce.

What's the best app for this? Which has the best algorithm?

I've tried Sleep++ and it gives a very similar readiness score to Fitbit, but I'm not sure the calculation is very robust.
I've also tried the Training Today app which seems to use the HRV throughout the day to calculate a readiness. It seems quite useful. Has anyone used it and found it useful?

No mechanical indicator can compare with how your own body feels.

If you’re sick, get plenty of bed rest. At most, go for a very short, easy walk. Walking can be good when you’re sick, but only a very little bit; don’t overdo it. (Certainly, don’t go for a walk if you need to be close to the toilet!)

If you’re not sick but you’re dreading the thought of exercising, just “punch the clock.” Do the most minimal version of exercise that’s not simply sprawling on the couch. A lazy walk counts; ideally enough to close your Exercise ring, but it’s okay if it’s not even that much. Or maybe you do a stripped-down version of your normal exercise routine — for example, if you swim laps, only do half as many as you would, and at a super-lazy pace. If you lift, leave most of the weights on the rack and just focus on perfect form with minimal resistance. If even the thought of that is off-putting … well, clearly, today is your day for a lazy walk.

If you’re feeling normal, do your normal routine.

And if you’re feeling great, aim for the stars — carefully, of course; you don’t want to injure yourself. But that’s a great reason to see if you can surpass your previous limits.

Now, consider each of those scenarios. If your FitBit told you otherwise, would you trust your FitBit over what your own body was telling you? Would you really push yourself even if you felt miserable — and don’t you think that would seriously increase your risk of injury? And would you hold back if you felt great but your FitBit told you to take it easy? Wouldn’t you feel bad about that, too?

The best “app” for “readiness,” the one with the best “algorithm,” is your Mark 1 flesh-and-blood body.

I can recommend athlytic because it offers a clear overview and does an interpretation of the measured values.

Have tried it and the subscription model kind of turns me away.

I have used TrainingToday - very simple but gives me an idea

You might give AutoSleep a try. It provides a readiness score and tells you your sleep "debt" or "credit" each day based on a rolling 7 day calculation. In the event you're interested in a deeper dive, it will display additional data like respiration, o2 level, and heart rate throughout the night. I've had no major argument with the data it provides.

Same here, while it’s obviously true the 1st comment about listening to your body, AutoSleep has been fine for me in terms of confirming how I feel, more or less, after a night of poor, decent, or good sleep.

Having also came to AW from Fitbit, I often wonder the same thing, what is the best readiness indicator? between 1, 2, or more brands and their various metrics. It’s interesting to ponder and to compare… overall I feel like Autosleep and Apple’s own recently added sleep stages are pretty good. I did enjoy the Fitbit display and metrics too, perhaps a little better than AW, but not much different.
