Hey I saw the macrumor guide for recovering songs from the iPod but still am not sure

My hard drive failed so I need to get songs off my iPod Touch 1st Gen.

This is just a one time thing so I'd rather not spend money... I don't need any features like sharing with friends or constant backing up.

I just need to back up all my music (with album art) and hopefully all my apps.
I couldn't find info on backing up apps from these different pieces of software.

I'm on Windows.
If there's absolutely no way to do all of this on Windows, I can probably search and beg and borrow someone's mac.

Thank you for any possible help

As far as I know no one has added the ability to backup applications at the present moment. Only songs and photos can be recovered.

Well I figured it out.
I used Music Rescue. Every 50 songs it stops to tell you it's a trial.
Not all of my artwork transferred over, but a high majority.
After that, I clicked Transfer purchases from iPod within iTunes to get my apps back. It takes forever, so no answer as of yet.
