best relable good color monitor for under $600.00

I may get one soon, & would like some suggestions it would go with my 2010 i7 macbook pro with snowleopard.

I would use it for photo & video editing, music, & maybe watch movies on.

I am also a student enrolled in some photoshop classes.

It will be on a desk, not very far from my chair, & the space on the desk is a bit tight.
