I love the screen on my new Macbook Pro 13". I want to be able to get higher resolutions though.

QuickRes looks like it used to be popular but recent (by recent, I mean May) reviews seem to say that it doesn't work with Retina.

What's the current best software for switching to higher resolutions?

I use Retina DisplayMenu

You can download it there, it's from the reddit user phoenixdev
It works well, and I like it because it just sits in the menu bar.

I use Pupil, it has a nice clean UI that is easy to use even in high resolutions.

There are also other alternatives, like the simple QuickRes, and the feature-rich SwitchResX.

None of these three are free, but are not that expensive either. All have trial versions available.

The Retina DisplayMenu Jaben3421 mentioned is also a very good option, and free.

I like QuickRes best. Especially for the 1920x1200 non-retina resolution when I need it.
