Best results on Comcast w/ Airport Extreme

I have an ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6121 cable modem, hooked up to an Airport Extreme wireless router.

Using Airport Utility in OS X, I have set my own DNS for the Airport Extreme, based on best results for my area / IP using the namebench app (from Google).

Do I also need to override the DNS settings for my Wi-Fi configuration in System Preferences > Network, or would that be redundant? Currently, that has 10.0.1.1 and some sort of IPv6 as the two DNS Servers.

No. The client will see the 10.0.1.1 address and the AirPort will forward all DNS requests to the appropriate DNS servers you entered.
