I got SL installed on the newest stock iMacs that can possibly support it, tons of trial and error but the OS runs really fast!

the only problem is that's about all they run: the OS.

i thought that by running a system that could use both Rosetta and 32-bit programs i would have a great range of games available, but everything i can find online so far are just mac ports of windows games, nothing mac exclusive.

i misunderstood Rosetta and thought it included "classic environment" mode for PPC OS9 games but no luck there obviously. :(

so i'm trying to find software that highlights the compatibility of this specific system. not necessarily download links but even just titles to hunt would be great. (some wiki-type sites claim to list these types of games but they are so incomplete they arent helpful)

1) PPC OSX exclusive games that I can use thru Rosetta mode (im particularly looking for these since it was the main reason i got SL instead of later OSes)

2) 32-bit app store games that disappeared after the 64-bit switch.

3) 32 bit mac-exclusive indie/homebrew/shareware type games that were never updated to 64-bit.

for rosetta-era the usual websites for old games just have mac ports of windows games, and i have no idea where to browse old preserved app store games lists (let alone downloads).

thanks!

The easiest way to get at old predominately Mac-exclusive (especially OS 9-era) games would be MacAddict's catalog of cover discs. There's also the Inside Mac Games archive of discs too. While both MacAddict and IMG highlighted "AAA" releases (which were always Windows ports, or cross-platform releases), they also make up a huge archive of curated indie/shareware games too.

If you're after obscure Mac-exclusive indie games, there's Tanaka, from Pacific Media Worx (originally coded to be a demo for QuickDraw 3D, IIRC), and Weekend Warrior from Pangea Software, another QuickDraw 3D demo-ish game published by Bungie Software. There's also the novel 3D RTS Gridz from Green Dragon Creations, but when I last tried to search for it, all of the download links to it were dead, and their email address led nowhere. :(
