Best route for networking Airport Express and BluRay player

Hey everyone, I have an Airport Express, a Cox modem and a Samsung BD-P 1600. What do I need to have them both (AE and BluRay) wired. I understand that you can't split the ethernet signal, but I'm stumped as to what route to take. Any help?!

There would be no way to hardwire both without another router/switch.

any suggestions on a specific switch/router? also what would the connection setup be like?

modem > switch/router > Airport Express and BluRay player
