I very much dislike screen scuffs and am looking for the best AW S9screen & case protection.

I use a seamless glass screen protector & slim case. The result is a 2-year old cosmetically flawless device without much bulk.

Looking for the same for my AW S9.

I originally found a protector that seemed to have a glass top and seal to prevent trapped water but reviews are mixed.

Then I looked at the TPU screen protectors, but am concerned they’ll lift up on the edges with ‘rugged’ cases. I do like the case/band I found though (linked below).

Also considered some of the glass screen protector solutions but it’ll leave the watch completely exposed. Seems the most seamless and sleek.

What are you all doing?

Is your watch stainless or aluminum? If stainless, and sapphire glass, in almost all cases you don't need a screen protector. I have had all of the Apple watches and bang the sapphire glass constantly but have never had a scratch. It is really, really hard to scratch.

We use the Misxi cases on our watches (SE & 7). Someone here recommended them and they are quite good. They are easy to install — basically, they just pop on. They also give you two cases for a very low price ($10).

Provides very good protection, and screen interactions remain smooth and responsive.

We've inadvertently hit our watches against door jambs and other surfaces and there's been no damage to the case or watch.

One minor issue is that sometimes a bit of condensation can get inside the case between it and watch display. That can be due to sweat or extreme humidity— picture lawn mowing on a warm, humid summer day and sweaty forearms. It soon dries out or you can pop the case off and wipe it clean.

The other minor issue is that the outside of the case can sometimes become smudgy — say, when eating potato chips — but that also wipes off easily. I imagine the same thing could occur with a bare watch, so that’s really not a problem, either.

I’m getting the regular 9 and have never had an Apple Watch before. I do know real Sapphire is definitely strong and I’d probably go without anything if I had that (funny to say since they’re $700). Sapphire is real, not like the phone glass people pretend doesn’t scratch.

I can’t justify the price since it’s almost double. Ironically, perhaps I could if I knew I’d really love it and have it for at least 5 years.

Yeah, they apparently make a sealed screen version now that I linked to.

Best screen protector I ever found was switching to SS models for the tougher screen. I was already buying the cellular models anyway so the incremental cost wasn't bad.

I use aluminium watches and don't use screen protectors. I don't abuse my watch though I did take it through Tough Mudder on the weekend.

You'll read comments like "it will scratch if you breath on it" but that's nonsense. It will scratch easily enough if you're not careful, but I choose to be careful.

If only I could choose not to be mildly klutzy... :D Inadvertently banging my watch into a doorway or doorknob or similar was usually the cause of a visible mark when I had aluminum AW models.

Now with SBSS (and later SBTi), I've not had to be particularly careful whether going through doorways, working on vehicles, etc.

I’ve never had an AW before so I’m in an interesting position. If I LOVE it I’ll wish I got the SS. If I don’t like it I’ll wish I didn’t buy anything.

I used to have a Fitbit Charge. It gave me notification alerts which at the time I was fine with.

I bought some of those plastic screen protectors. I use a glass one on my phone but glass protector reviews aren’t great on the watch.

How thick is the powder coating on the watch, will the first ding I get on the midnight show through bright silver?

I looked at my friends AW6 SS Gold, the screen is truly flawless (I looked extremely close). The casing does have some dings but it still all looks gold. Very impressed it looks that good after 3 years and no protection. Has me pondering the SS.

If it is your intention to keep the watch for several years and seeing scratches on the screen would bother you could...

1) Get the aluminum model and spend $10 on a case cover or screen protector from Amazon.
2) Get the SS model and not use any cover and as it will be a lot more durable.

Right. That’s why I asked what screen protector & cases people have used and liked…. :)

I have the aluminium case. At first I wore it without protection and scratched it after few months, luckily I had AC+. I then used to have the Misxi protector on all the time. Now I prefer for aesthetic reasons to have it with no protection and try to be more careful, wear the Misxi “waterproof” protection while pool swimming and keep AC+.
I think Misxi protectors for series 7/8 work on series 9 too. They are cheap and do well their work. But if you are still on time I really suggest you to add AC+ (AppleCare+)
