Best software for "To do" Task list?

I am looking for good software to generate a To do list or task list. Something with maybe a time line and some color coordination would be good.

Maybe something that can integrate into mail/ical?

Please let me know what is out there and worth getting. Thanks!

Things

Things would probably be the best option;
although no colour co ordination apart from tasks turning red when due

However the interface is beautiful and extremely -mac like-
Also there is task syncing for ical and iphone.

Things is based on the GTD Philosophy - make sure you try it over software like omnifocus, purely for its simplicity and design

As much as I hate to tell you to drop $50, either Things or The Hit List is what you need.

I prefer The Hit List, but Things is also amazing. I actually have both, believe it or not.
