Since receiving my copy of Macromedia DreamWeaver 8, I am working on resurrecting my personal entertainment-based website that i took offline between 2006-2008 for upgrades (that ultimately never happened after a HDD failure). This website (at least the planed-but-never-finished) was image entensive with page background images and banners and logos galore. Sure there are websites such as FlamingText.com that I can make banners and Logo's with but I did this before and want something my own. I was thinking Illiustrator CS2 as i learned graphic design on this software, but i was wondering is there is something better.

Let me know thanks!

Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop should be fine for logo creation.

If you like Macromedia, you could use Freehand (similar to Illustrator) or Fireworks (similar to PhotoShop).

I prefer Adobe over Macromedia (Adobe eventually bought Macromedia).

where would I find Freehand and Firework?

I had to use firework recently as part of my web design module elective in college. I used CS5 and found it to be such a clunky and ugly program, I hope better software exists for it's purpose.

Also, I am actually unaware as to what can be done in firework that can't be done using a combination of PhotoShop, Flash and others from the creative suite. It seems redundant to me. Excuse my ignorance.

No joke, as the top computer science students in Ireland, we were instructed to make these abominations of nature for our assignments. I got full marks for these monstrosities. :p
