Hey I'm an American moving to Europe in a few months, and I have tons of DVDs that will no longer be playable. I have an external hard drive I'd like to rip them to so that I can watch there. Can anyone recommend good software to rip a lot of dvds with that I can store? Thanks!

Or just do it in one step and rip with Handbrake. Just make sure you have also downloaded VLC as it uses it to rip. Both are free. Wouldn't be the worst idea to have Fairmount, too, just in case. Also free.

cool, i've used handbrake a lot, i wasnt sure if there was anything else folks used.

rip it.. is great for ripping.

If you looking to actually copy your dvd's region free so you can watch them anywhere. The best programs to use are 1ClickCopyDVD and AnyDVD (both are windows programs) Mac has yet to make a comparable.. fingers crossed it's in the works
