I got a Logitech Performance MX mouse over the weekend and just started using it with my MacBook Air (2012). The mouse worked as soon as I connected it, but some of the additional buttons don't work yet.

I was thinking of using the Logitech software to map the additional buttons, but I'd also heard of some people using other software such as SteerMouse.

So which is the best software to use with the MX mouse?

You might try the Logitech software first.

If that doesn't please you, then experiment with either
- Steermouse, or
- USB Overdrive.

Ultimately, which one you prefer will become a matter of your own personal taste. What satisfies you, may not be someone else's cup of tea...

Steermouse is the best way to get it working how you want. It's what I used with my MX revolution.

I use Logitechs LCC as some others. Have everything mapped perfectly and I'm a very fussy user. I also use Sharemouse so control an MBP & a Mini with the same mouse. Only thing I can't do is invoke spaces/expose (or TotalSpaces on ML) with LCC. Everything else is perfect and its the best mouse I've ever used.

Is there a particular function you need the additional buttons to perform?
