Hey guys. I would like to find a solution to hear and be heard over video conference. Is there something you like that works well with FaceTime and Zoom, perhaps an all in one solution, like a discreet headset with a microphone? It doesn't have to be high quality audio, just audible and clear. Thank you for any suggestions.

I will just be using the MacBook camera. That's not a concern for me, I'm talking about the audio.

If you want other sounds in steaming the externals mic that you turn off is helpful like this one might be helpful! to get in an web page, app, is called Loopback and for what is cart machine is called Farrago

I'm thinking the OP just needs a USB connected headset with microphone. Many choices at Amazon. There are over-the-ear types and also the less visible earbud-style models.

A lot of my coworkers, and sometimes I, use the Jabra Evolve headsets, like the Evolve 65. There’s wired and wireless versions, both stereo and mono. The wireless ones can use Bluetooth or their own USB wireless adapter, but they all have a microphone that’s good and clear. I don’t find the headband to be super comfortable for long calls, however.

Excellent info, thank you. I was also looking at something less precise and comfortable, but more discreet, like ear buds with a microphone. Did Apple ever make something like that?

Apple only has AirPods and they seem to get mixed reviews for calling microphone quality. No earbud style device is going to work as well as something that has a microphone out by the user’s mouth.

I thought of those, but they don't have a microphone right?
They absolutely do. Someone else would have to chime in on how well AirPods work with Facetime or Zoom on a Mac.

Discreet, to me, means wireless plus not much sticking out of the ear (like Airbuds do). Is that what you're after…are you nixing wired here?
