I've got a big CRT TV that I'd like to connect my new MacBook Pro to occasionally in order to play videos. So what's the easiest/best/cheapest way to do this? Mini Display to DVI to ??? ? Something else?

I don't expect much in the way of quality, but it would be nice if it weren't terrible.

That adaptor will not work if you have a unibody MacBook, which has Mini DisplayPort instead of Mini DVI. Take a look at this thread.

Thanks for the pointer, Mr. Brightside. I was able to cancel my order on Amazon.

I checked out that other thread, but I'm not totally crazy about spending $50 bucks on something with more functionality than I need. Am I just stuck, though?

Unless you're really desperate, pretty much. As per the other thread, you're looking at adaptors connected to adaptors connected to cables, or something crazy like that. Doesn't mean it CAN'T be done, but yeah, maybe not cost effective.
