The amazon basics cable will save you a few bucks over the apple one and perform just the same. I'd go with that before some generic made in china cable.

That's a heck of a deal. I wonder if they're really OEM though. You know what they say about if it seems to good to be true... That combo would run $38 from Apple.

If those are OEM im buying it for sure. still would like the 6ft cable however. has anyone used the monoprice? Its the only certified 6ft cable that I know of

Verizon sells an authorized 6 ft cable with charger. Puregear has a 5 1/2 foot one piece wall charger as well.

They've been on ebay since '08 with 38K feedbacks, 99% positive. They do seem to have an issue trying to sell used stuff as new, but I didn't see anyone mention getting fake accessories.

I ordered 2 cables/chargers. We shall see.

+1
I also have the amazon basic one. Works great. Feels high quality.

Agreed. It's a few bucks cheaper than buying the OEM Apple cable, and you know its going to be a quality product coming directly from Amazon. And if for whatever reason its faulty, the return process with Amazon is a breeze. Better option than rolling the dice with other vendors to save a couple bucks IMO.

anyone have experience with the monoprice? Really interested in the 6ft for bedside.

I have the 3ft black one. It works perfectly fine. The actual metal part that gets inserted into your phone looks absolutely identical to the OEM apple cable. The plastic trim around it through is slightly larger than the OEM apple cable.

I can also vouch for monoprice's customer support, they have been fantastic to me every time I have had an issue. I've been a longtime customer.

great, thank you. I think I'm going to go ahead and get one from monoprice. If only amazon basic had a 6ft cable! I bought a 6ft certified one off amazon so I could have it asap, but its twice the price of the monoprice!

Be careful. None of these 3rd party cables work with iOS7. I purchased 5 off Amazon myself. They all worked great on my iPhone and iPad mini, until I upgraded to iOS7 and now none of them work.

There is a company that has "broken" the code for it to work, so it will be available now, but make sure you buy one that says "iOS7 compatible"

Article just in case: http://bgr.com/2013/06/24/apple-lightning-cable-authentication-ios-7/

You only need to buy one that is MFi certified. No need to look for any claims of iOS7 compatibility. Any third-party cable that is MFi certified will be totally fine.

You can also get a 10 ft on mono price

I have a 30-pin 10 foot for my iPad 3 and a 6 foot Lightning for my i5 (black cord to match the black phone)

Didn't feel the need to have as long of a cord for the phone, and it's been working out great (and enough of an opening on my Diztronic TPU that the slightly thicker plastic head on the Monoprice lightning cable is a non-issue)

Monoprice is awesome, been using them for a while now for HDMI cables, these, and a mini display port to dvi connector.
